People

I like certain kind of people.
The kind whose whose personality traits crosses path with the type of person i am or I aspire to be.
Ones who like to wear or keep certian things no matter how old just for the fact that it is comfortable/ sentimental/ just works. Don't see a point in buying/ owning something that doesn't work. Ones that work, just do.
I like people who are angry at the world for right reasons.
I like who speak their mind.
I like people with wild dreams and who have the balls to follow them with an intent to achieve it.
I LOVE people who can take criticism with an open mind.
And those who sacrifice something little to make things work in a larger group, LOVE them. Its a difficult quality to have, apparently.
Some do something good/kind for no reason. Like them.
Some do the above and try hard to avoid anyone notice it. Love them.

I can be a snob/ wierdo/recluse more often than not.
I don't like people, more often than not.
See a pattern there? Yes there is.

The GENIUS within

Genius:
Defn: An exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music.

This, my friends is a screwed up version of the real meaning of the term Genius. Genius as a real thing is not a person or his exceptional ability to do something. It’s an instance of an external phenomenon that transcends into a being. Now now, bear with me here. I’m not trying to intellectualize some concept but to explain you one which really came across as a revelation to me and I personally blv it be the absolute truth.

In times long ago Genius was considered to be an external phenomenon or rather a spirit that possessed certain individual at certain time and place, which might have been triggered by some thought, or work or environment. Now this idea or thought process, as true as they blvd it to be, did two things very effectively:
1. The individual who was “possessed” the genius was indeed free of any obligation as he was a mere medium rather than the Genius itself. [Imagine a writer or painter not having to worry about facing a writer’s/ Painter’s block.]
2. These said people were free of any adulation and subjected to merely being respected, for the same reasons stated abv.

Ask anyone who writes or paints or does any work of creativity, and more often than not they would agree that, beyond doubt that they are “in the flow” at times, times like when they come up with the most beautiful words to put across their ideas, the finest details in theirs paintings, handle and transform the most delicate notes in music, and seamlessly so. That is the moment when they are possessed by the GENIUS. All of them will tell you that it’s not them who choose the time and place and frame of mind to be creative but it’s this certain “something” that shows up unannounced and makes you go into that mode. If that moment is past you then that piece of creativity is lost on you. You cannot conceptualize or think of an idea when u are possessed by it and work on it at a later point in time. Nope Nope. The genius would have left you by then. Taking that piece of creativity with it, to find another body to transcend into and make that it’s medium.

As among most of the other things, it seems like the GENIUS has it’s favourites and it chooses to be more kind on SOME than it is on others, that or these SOME individuals have found a secret way to invoke the genius that others are yet to figure. Nevertheless, the so called Genius, i blv, transcends into each one of us, may be in different capacities, in ways that you may not take notice, but it does. What you make of it, or rather how much or little, is solely left to what the Genius has to offer to you or what u can personally make of it.

Duh Wednesday

T : Jus lookin out my window facin the street and i think “Something’s amiss..... FKKKK .... my bike” !!!

T+2: After seein the keys on the floor with my helmet i broke the news to myself that my bike was indeed stolen.. not taken by some friend, not parked someplace BUT STOLEN.. Duh.. Sigh.. Duh...

T+3: “Maav gaadi hat’th pa”... Sada shakes off his sleep, walks out the door to the street confirmin i’m not playin a prank or that i wasn’t jus plain hallucinatin.. scans his surroundings.. looks @ me and says to me wha i did to him jus moments ago ... :-?

T+7: “Pattya gaadi hat’th le.. splendor”..... Abhi wakes up.. rubs out the sleep from his eyes and while he’s doin so says in a flat tone “FIR barson ba” .. just like that.. no questions , no wen, wer, what, how.. No shock, awe, sympathy but one flat tone saying the most obvious nxt step which me n sada din figure till den... and our man was ready in a jiffy with his jacket on and keys in hand!!!

T+15: *Police stn* read the board.... we walk in and see a stray dog guardin the law and justice from it’s citizens ... Heart warming sight..

T+16: We enter and fill em in as to wha hapnd.. he points to a register, instructs me to fill in all de details.. which i do dutifully borrowin a pen from him.. Now i dunno wha dream abhi was in middle of wen i woke him up sometime ago but he, for some reason was in the mood, like all set and active.. he starts interrogatin the cops.. and they welcomed his questions which ranged from “what do u do with the seized vehicles?” , “How many thefts take place on an avg” to “How do they steal cars??” ...

T+60: Return to base.. to go back in the morning..

T+600 : We enter the same police stn which is now jostling with ppl and cops.. very unlike the prev night.. Some poor souls were made to sit on floor for questioning i assume.. a couple of lanky souls were in the lockup staring at the cops... we are duly directed to the SI der who again enquired abt the incident which led us der, he listened and asked me to give it writing.. I did.. den we wait.. and while we do so Mr. Abhi starts interrogating the SI now, so that he doesn’t feel left out on the fun.. “What did those guy do?” he asked pointing to the men sittin on floor, “Steal” was the reply and the SI walks out to take care of some business.. “Why are they made to sit on the floor?, isn’t is incorrect?” pattan asks me.. “WTF do u care, they’l do whatever they got to dude, wher else do they meke em sit? ” i say... “If it wer a rich guy he’d have been sittin on the chair drinkin tea..” he replied, der was no anger or sympathy in his voice, jus plain facts.. infact there was a hint of amusement in his tone.. I smiled, shook my head..

Both of us were called out with the letter to further complete the process.. I get up and lead with him following me.. I’m asked some more questions and abhi reaches der a min later.. “That guy in the lockup offered me 10 bucks, in exchange for one call from my cell !!, i din give it though” said abhi beaming with happiness like a kid spotting mickey mouse in Disneyland... “For real ?“ i asked... he mimed the convict’s expression jus in case i din blv.. and i did blv him after that, he cudn’t have made it up... not rite den.. ha ha..

T+720 : I get my FIR after coupla trips to the XEROX shop and some stories abt recession , call centre job ,how the world is unjust and overflowing with engineers yr after yr...

T+1500 : Smile on my face writin abt the events that unfolded in a day.. Suprisingly smiling ... hurts a lil.. but smiling I am.. as to all things that are beyond my control.. So long KA-25-S-2526... hope u come to daddy.. else RIP...

Shady: They have to bey, we have it in written paper.

Sanjay: What if they don't have the money man.

Shady: They have to...they have to.

Varun: What if they tell you, listen we don't have the money and we'll give it to you after 15 days.

Shady: Then ok.

Sanjay: What if they say they'll give it after two months.

Shady: They can't bey...they have to give it.

Nandu: Then we'll keep the systems instead of the money.

Smiley

Aaaarrrgghh.. Here she comes.. And here comes her dreaded smile.. Tchinnngggg !!!! I Smile back @ her.. I hate this compulsive smiling be it workplace, or back @ school, college... I just plain hate the the people i label as SMILEY's.

Smiley:
By definition is a male / female who you happen to know by whatever means, with whom u don have an iota of interest to talk to nor is there any advances from him /her to do the same. But still just to keep that "I Know You" feel intact everytime u happen to see them they flash a charming smile. Well they atleast try to.

The Flaw:
  • Both for sure know that even if they meet 100yrs down the line only thing they wud end up doin is smile. No "Oh where were u all these yrs", or "How are you" not even a "Hi". Just a divine smile.
  • I tried NOT smiling in a phase by phase manner, a gradual decrease, but i doubt they ever mind or are even noticing. I have gone up to the extent of looking the other way wen i see them coming. But the next time i happen to see them, THERE, the smile is there standing tall against all odds. Phew!

The Levels:

  • Level 1: It's charming. There's hope fro whateve there is ur thinkkin abt.
  • Level 2: all your advances to are met with bigger smiles and quicker feet. He/ She acts like some Ghost in a bolly movie, who just smiles/ Laughs and runs around a PURANI HAVELI just out of ur grabbing distance. So close yet so far.
  • Level 3: Now u start wondering if they are smiling For U, Wtih U, or At U.
  • Level 4: The smile is creepy now. u just are tired of smiling back.
  • Lavel 5: All ur attempts to stop smiling back are futile. If gandhi and his followers had tried smiling @ brits everytime they saw them, i sure think they wud have departed earlier. Chumma satyagraha/ March n all. It's Non-Voilence torture at it's best.
  • Level 6: Now it's just like GROUNDHOG DAY. HE/ SHE smiles, i mirror the same mechanically, and make a mental note "i'v gotta put an end to it".

"Dude tu Qataar mein hain"

> 2 promising prospects
> 2 good discussions
> A Change on the Horizon
> Every night i dream of how things cud be.
> Everyday now i look @ my phone expecting the good news.

But fate's lookin down @ me with a smile across it's face whispering "DUDE tum Qataar mein ho"

I've been keepin my Fingers, Toes and dunno wha all crossed.

Classics – Don’t Delete

For me a movie experience is everything – PERIOD.

I don’t remember the first one i watched, but i recon it was at a very very young age. But now a good veiwing is all i need to give me that wonderful feeling which makes me wanna sigh, exhale and shout out BEAUUUTIFULL, MIND BLOWING, ULTIMATE... that’s all i look for.

I have my own way of categorizing or say rating the movies i watched.
1.Classic
2.Good
3.Crap

1. Classic
A movie which pushes limits, which gives me that wonderful feeling, a feeling better than delicious hot food when i’m starved, a smile that appears wen i see a loved one, an opening which prods me to express my feelings like i’m in the privacy of my home- ALONE. That’s a classic for me. The one’s a put in a folder for later re-Viewing.

2. Good
For a movie to qualify as – GOOD, is not so difficult a task, nevertheless not too easy either, all they need is to have talent. For me if the movie is something that’s never bin done or seen before, else if it’s done or seen before but the way it’s presented is superbly refreshing ELSEEE if neither of this is done still it does a small something to impress u (can’t be specific here) THEN IT”S A GOOD MOVIE. The difference between a good and a classic here is, i sit and think after the movie to determine if the movie is a good one or not. Whereas in case of classic it’s already awarded to it by the time the movie reaches it’s climax.

3. Crap
Movie which don’t fall in either of the above categories, movies which make u wonder how much money the producer’s have to throw around, movies which on reading it’s reviews which give u a breif idea about how it’s script looked like and makes u wonder what did the director and cast see in this crap plot which gave them the confidence to go ahead and throw their reputations off the building, these are the kind of movies which run on HYPE rather than talent, these are the movies which if someone says that they liked it – u stop speaking to them about movies ever ever again. I Hope u got the point.

Examples

1. Classics – 12 ANGRY MEN, Godfather, Bourne Ultimatum, DEV D, Swades, Closer, Good will Hunting, Fight Club, A walk to remember, into the wild, Schindler’s list, many of Big B’s Classics, TLOR etc etc

2. Good Movies – Dark knight, the hunting party, August Rush, JWM, Death @ a funeral, 3:10 to yuma, Gone Baby Gone, Seven, Dead Poet’s Society, etc etc

3. Crap – All “SHIFT + DELEted” ones

P.S : For all DARK KNIGHT fans, it’s not by error that it lies in the GOOD category, nor is it put on par with the other movies listed in that or any other movie category. Claiming that the movie is a classic is unacceptable just because of the simple fact that if u remove the HYPE that blinds the viewer’s u can see the numerous flaws that show up every now and then. It has it’s share of powerful performances (read as ONLY HEATH LEDGER) no doubt but it fails on some front’s. Greatest Comic Book Movie u say?? True, but easily beatable.

Bawwwwrrrrdddd

He he . so so jobless I am..

Things that amuse/ entertain / interest me nowadays can vary from a piece of useless paper or "Who wins flip of coin" best of 3 of course, changing my desktop wallpaper, browsing some news site hoping they’l publish something worthy of reading.. I hope you got the picture, right?. I’m so bored of staying putt @ my desk that whenever I’m out of my place ppl jus flash a smile @ me thinkin such a lucky bastard I am.. jus for the record “it’s not all that rosy”.. for a week’s time being jobless is fun but after that it’s as fun as - chewing on a day old Center Fresh which u pulled out from under a college desk in a hour long lecture after a filling lunch in a cockroach ridden place- got the idea??

Introspection becomes the only way u can think. U pass judgments on others, not coz it’s in ur blood or that u hate that person but just coz u simply have nothing better to do than that. U can very well see ur moving one step closer to turn into a Chick for the only reason that U love rumours even if u know it’s fake jus cos the fact that it gives u something to talk abt Gossip gossip all the way.

When I see a TV somewhere in the restaurant or something just the fact that it happens to show The New AXE effect Ad where this female is searching for her cell phone all over the library floor it seems to please me immensely or say that they happen to show something that has Katrina in it ->  same effect (No sweetheart it’s not just me it’s what all guys feel jus the degree varies).

Well that’s it.. I’m bored sittin @ my place now.. gotta go.. byeee

Today's exercise : Google "Bored".. follow the first link..

The Urban Warrior

It was the day many dreaded, the day when the strongest kinds ran around with their tails tucked between their legs. But unlike them I was determined, I was prepared. I stepped in to the arena feeling Déjà vu. I saw others who were der before me, lying down, my fellow men, wincing with pain, they had done their duty fearless and leading from the front. But the enemy was cunning, he was skillful and prepared. Although we outnumbered him by far, he somehow clearly had an upper hand on the situation.

I slowly geared up, allowing nothing to deter me from the ultimate face off. It was then I saw the enemy, who stood across the heap where my fellow men lie in a pool of blood. He was unscathed, determined as a morning sun. Wearing his appearance, which was his biggest weapon, lean and fragile, which gave the opposition a thrust in their confidence only to make some horrendous mistake and then finally fall to him. But I told myself that it will not be the case with me, I will bring him down and emerge victorious.

I stood across the arena waiting for the right moment to commence our battle, then at that moment he looked up from his latest kill right into my eyes and invited me with the slightest of nod, I responded with a nod, den v both charged towards each other, both jus keeping our eye contact, not shouting, not showing the slightest of fear or strength, trying to conserve all energy for the battle ahead.

There was still lot of ground our thumping feet needed to cover before we actually could have had a strike. It was den he did the unexpected: he slightly deviated from his path took some giant steps and leapt into the air, holding his weapon which looked like a spear, but smaller, high above his head ready to strike. In a quick reflex I moved away, seeing which he twisted mid-air and kicked me on my chest. I was thrown to the ground. It was a bad fall. I turned around to guard myself against him, but only to realize I was too late to do that. He was already charging down at me like a wild bull, he struck me again with the butt of his weapon, which I still couldn’t quite figure out as to what it really was.

I felt my hand loosen its grip over the weapon I held, he again delivered a severe blow, and quickly jumped on me to capitalize on me when I’m down. He looked down at me with what looked like pity in his eyes; he raised his weapon, which was now shining like a piece of silver, ready to strike. Before he did strike he uttered the words that the legend told he always did: “Don’t Worry it won’t Hurt”. Den I experienced a piercing pain in my arm, I opened my eyes to see him smiling, I smiled back, suddenly a realization made him to stare back at me wiping out the smile from his face. I looked up and told “Dude u missed the spot”. He looked back at wound only to realize that my words were true. He pulled out his weapon from my arm and stuck again, this time right on target. I lay there feeling weak, for it all to get over with. After 10mins he tapped my shoulder, pulled out his weapon, checked the bag in which he collected my blood and looked up and told: “Thank you for donating blood sir, please have the sandwich and juice over the counter. It’s complimentary” :)

A Step in Right direction

I will not say that this may be a breakthrough of some kind. But it certainly is a step in right direction. For once keep ur sarcasm and finger pointing antiques at home and support a initiative. I hope things change for good.

A Chance Encounter

I forced myself to office on a Monday morning, only to find it largely deserted and incidently after checkin my mail, searching for some work assigned to me in it, it jus happened to be one of those days which had nothing to offer me in terms of work… Not even UNIT TESTING and/or ANALYSING (not that i enjoy it,, still..)

Frustrated and wondering aloud as to why, why of all places I’m here, this day, this moment serving no purpose at all… they say whatever u do here, each n every action of ur's, all contribute to a larger constituency, a bigger picture is always der to which each and every action of ur's matter. i din see any of that happening this day this moment no matter wha i did…

With no job in hand like any other bored ENGINEER I faithfully logged on to some comic sites, orkut and Blog site.. I used up all my time browsing thru the recent update notices of people who did a range of changes from uploading their new pics in orkut to changing their last names to “Wazzup….!!!” Or “Coooollll” etc..

While I was doin all this outta sheer boredom in my close to empty office on a MONDAY MORNING, fate was looming dangerously close and large over my head… LITERALLY!!! Suddenly a strange feeling struck me, the kind when u know someone’s staring at u from somewhere, It was kinda spooky… I dismissed that feeling blaming it partly on the infamous Monday Blues and partly on myself for bein Paranoid. I continued browsing thru more Orkut albums, but this uncomfortable sense of being observed / being stared started growing inside me.. With suspiction growin out of bounds I finally gave in to it &, with gr8 effort, turned my head to once and for all make sure that I’m not being spied on by a ghost in my empty office, but fate revealed it’s plans for me, the reason why I was der that MONDAY, at that moment, doing what I was doin. Standing behind with a slightly crooked angle with a elegant hunch, staring at my monitor looking at my fnd’s album pic, stood a lean frame which belonged to a guy from our Management, he was not jus any random guy, he was THE MAN, the man with powers, the kind who called THE shots, who run the company. Of all people!!! Huff.. FATE,,, God Dammit!!

Though Orkut was not yet officially blocked in our company, it’s definitely not what we are supposed to be doing at work hours, but work I din have and orkut was what I did, and caught i was, situation Uncomfortable, the kind ur not prepared for… He din flinch a bit, when i turned back and was lookin at him, he continued scanning my monitor, perhaps he din notice, or rather din care. In a moment he shifted his gaze from my monitor right to my eyeballs, with a swift precision that comes only and only with experience. The stare was hypnotic, from which if i din break out soon, wud suck me in, not sure what an ideal reaction wud be between a fake shame or a bold greeting, in split second decision (a rather lame one, I’d say) I greeted him with a bold and confident Chin upHI”, the kinda Chin up action with which u'd mouth “WASSSUP” to ur peers. He held his gaze, hold, hold, 1., 2., 3., 3.5 seconds. Den he broke his stare with which he held me captive, he turned (which reminded me of "Daineeeyyy Muddd"), moved back to his cabin, without a word, without a response or reaction. I wondered what would follow for the rest of the day. Nothing happened, atleast nothing happened that day. Well the next day i just happened observe ORKUT was blocked, so was Blogspot….

Hmmmm ,, wonder why…

Dada : The Prince - The Leader- The Warrior

Dada has been more of an enigma rather than just a plain old legend. There have been players who scored more runs than he did, more followed than he was, but none who was more criticized than he was, more neglected than he was or more determined than he was.

There are only 3 things i'l remember him for

1. The way he started his career
2. The way he rebuilt and strengthened INDIAN TEAM from rubbles as a Captain.
3. The way he fought back into the team, from which he was excluded for wrong reasons.

Just when the world was busy talking how sad his exit is going to be etched in our minds, which wud have remembered him as a Southpaw who started with a century @ lord's and ended with a first ball Duck; our man was given charge of the situation, to captain the team for the last time; exactly 8 yrs after the day he made his debut as the captain of India. A fitting send-off i'd say. If u think real hard u'd realize that he's not considered as a LEGEND for the runs he scored or for his fitness finesse he showed on field, But for the leadership skill in him that failed the master of the bat among other players with whom he is often compared with the amount of runs they have accumulated over years of their illustrious career.

Quoting my fnd who rightly said "when it comes to Ganguly people have only 2 opinions; either they are a Staunch die - hard fan of his, or they simply can't stand him" well I’d surely count me to be the first kind and cannot bear to think any other way abt him.

Dada u’ll truly be missed.

Regards,
Your “Die Hard” Fan

iN Ma heAd

Warning: This is to warn u that there’s a high possibility that you might find this post purely boring and lame, as it has no particular unifying theme, humor or important message in it, well it depends on whose readin, still don’t tell I din warn you. It’s jus a collection of voices inside my head. So goin forward if u feel readin this was an absurd and a complete waste of time, then u and only u’ll be responsible for it .

Hmmmm….
Aaaa…. Hmmmm
Wha’s worse ??
Bad thoughts running in my mind? Or no thoughts et all?? Cos last time I heard “empty mind is devil’s workshop”. So if there are no thoughts runnin in my mind den, eventually it’l lead to bad thoughts, so is it better for me to initiate these so called bad thoughts or should i jus clear my head and wait for the devil to do it????

Wen you think ur better than somebody at something - is it really true? or is it just that the other person is way below average??? Wha’s the whole fuss of “Men who can make women laugh”?? Hmmmph…

How long can one convince himself that “Money is not everything”. If not money den what is??? Relations? friends? Job satisfaction? Learning ? Etcetera., etcetera ? what’s more important??? May be u’l reason with one of the above or more so something of ur own that’ll overshadow the importance of money, but at one point or the other u surely will wish that, that one thing along with lots of money would be jus perfect…

For those who understood the para above- Good Work!!
For those to whom it din make any sense?? Well I din intend to :)

Is being an author comparatively a much easier task than bein a movie director? Coz the author has to just write out along with the story i.e., the details like the way characters look, the way they express themselves, the kind of place they are in and stuff, majority of it depends on the way they are improvised as per the extent of the reader’s imagination, but a director has to take care that his movie surpasses or is at least on par with the viewer’s imagination. The best directors in business are called so because they explore an angle, a point of view that never occurred to most of us. Shantaram is bein made in to a movie I heard… hmmm, I’m happy,, or disappointed??? Well I think books like these are better bein jus books, the usp of the book lies in the details which I’m pretty sure 3hrs are not enough to showcase. Tele-serial sounds like a better option provided ekta kapoor keeps her hands off it, well for obvious reasons.

Is our run to achieve things, the ability to push ourseleves to the limit, towards success, higher, better ever gonna be fulfilled or is it just a race without finish line?? Questions questions… hmmmm How does “an eye for an eye” become an infinite loop to make the “whole world blind”? logically speaking it’s jus 1:1 ratio, it ends der right?

Coming back to shantaram, guys please do read it, nope this book won’t improve ur vocabulary, instead it’s got more chances of doin the opposite and also rip apart the ENGLISH GRAMMER taught to u in school, but there’s so much to learn from this work of fiction (as the writer claims it to be), u’l surely fall in love with “Prabu” , u’ll be impressed with Karla’s words of wisdom, and of course Shantaram aka Lin Baba’s experience is just amazin to say the least.

What makes a person avoid conflict? The pain involved in the fight or the range of prolonged after effects??

Second Last Question: Which is better
- Democratic country like INDIA and USA whose greedy leaders grab anything from land, mines, petrol bunks to IT parks in their SERVING time and burden the tax payers to pay up from their own pockets for their loose decisions’.
OR
- A so said anti-democratic Russia where leader like Putin advertised “If u wanna do business, Do business and stay away from politics, If u want power, enter politics and be happy with what the government pays you”. Anyone who dared to break this rule of his, was made to leave the country or end up in jail. And look at the progress his Russia has made.

Final Question: Do we get a high from “Truth Serum”?? Anyone answer that????

to B.E or not to B.E

Watched a real good movie after long (A Wednesday); on my way back down, I was lost in varied thoughts among Forum’s morning show crowd. Of all the noise from the crowd that surrounded me, one particular sentence fell into my ears loud and clear:

“Dude it’s only 12, still too early to go back home”

A broad smiled flashed across my face, a turned back to have a look at the speaker, aaah!! my guess was spot on: Lean guy, 20-21 yrs of age, Casual attire, Huge backpack (but had nothing more dan a book or two maxx), 3 friends fittin similar descriptions- He indeed was a ENGINEERING student, loaded with pocket money jus yesterday, has classes until noon (atleast that’s wha his mom knows abt) which he obviously plans to bunk n have ONE (one of many similar days that have preceded and will follow) day off to chill / relax, has probably killed 2-3 professors already in the current semester (So mom won’t buy it anymore as a reason).

Engineering is a phase which, according to me, every young individual has to go thru. Like students in Europe take a yr off to travel, students here who aspire to get into medical or go in other line of profession should try engg atleast for a year. Because a yr of Engg experience will teach you more than 10yrs of work experience in any line. After 4 (or more) yrs of toil when u have a job in hand and ur med school counterparts are nowhere near the earning phase it’s literally like, we are sticking our thumb on our nose and making faces at them.

It’s a strange world altogether, here last benchers bunk a new lecturer’s class cos he had ragged him/ her when the now lecturer was then his junior. Library is full of books which has main important pages missing which u’l find torn & strewn outside xam hall at the end of internals. Hostel is a place of worship wher u have access to everything from Movies to Important Notes to STUFF, also where you can collect any exorbitant amount of cash overnight to buy a LEAKED Question paper.

Only a engg student wud have the audacity to turn back before starting a final xam paper and ask what does the acronym, used to refer a subject all semester, really stand for*1 . Only he wud have the will power to bring a change of fate, more dramatic than a climax of a hindi movie, in 3rd internal marks which in turn will affect his average. Only he’d posses a memory to mug all the 15- 20 lab c++ programs in syllabus down to every comma and hyphen and semi-colon. An engineer student truly is the only person who’d think it’s possible to read a 1000 page book and give xam on the same, in hours. Only he will, deep within his heart, truly think that he will for real “start studyin from tomorrow” every single day. Here the probability of u flunking a paper even after solving 90 marks worth is equal to the probability of u scoring 35 on solvin 20 marks worth. Sounds of SOM, DSP, EC, S&S, M2 will send shivers down his spine, but on getting flunked will evoke a response “ Backs are the BACKBONE of engineering” from him. That’s a B.E student for you unfazed by any defeat, ready for any given task, coz he knows if it's thought of, it can surely be done..

The taste of B.E -> unforgettable.
The days of B.E -> best ever.

Disclaimer:
1.No offence meant to any other line of profession but everythin stated above is true to the core, there’s no beatin B.E course.
2.A engineer is repeatedly referred to as HE coz I’m too lazy to write he/she at every instance.

Moments ago...

For the nth time appu peeped in to my computer screen curious as to what keeps me so quiet and engaged in front of my system throughout the day, unable to hold it any longer she finally broke her silence-
Appu : Kya karte rehta hai tu poore din system pe?
Me: Yeh ek ART hain appu: ek KALA. U develop this skill of independently keepin urself engaged for the whole day only after 3 months of rigurous BENCHing.

Point made and accepted. Laughs on either side. Roll CREDITS :)

ALL IN A DAY’s WORK !!

16th July 2008

00:00hrs(approx)- “Guys VRN’s cell was snatched in E G pura main road jus now at 10:30. Sad man. He is really pissed.” Read bob’s msg. fuuuaaccckkk!!! I said to myself. I cud imagine VRN’s face. Thot of callin his roomie den ruled it out.

09:30 – VRN walks to my cube and gives an in-detail description of (rather enacted) events that took place last night. “Let’s go to Police station den to Vodafone.” Dejection showed on his face.

10:00- Enter Kormangala Police stn. Our man Mr.Constable is consoling a sobbing female who got mugged by a relative. We obviously cudn’t intervene their conversation. We wait for full 30mins only to be told that our case is none of his business.

11:00- Enter Viveknagar Police stn. Here the cops gather around us listen out VRN’s story. “Alla saar neeve heli auto number illa andre hege hidi bohudu naavu?”said Mr. Sub Inspector. “He was thin. Wore yellow t-shirt”added varun. That piece of info was aptly ignored. They took down a LOST MOBILE complaint and sent us packing with a acknowledgement slip.

12:00- VODAFONE Centre. Here we take our seat wait for our turn. Checking out what each of the CUSTOMER CARE officer’s life is like. We figured out if not all, still most of them sitting behind the counter are loosers. “VARUN NAMBIAR. COUNTER B” came the announcement. We look at each other and head towards Counter B. “Ms. DIVYA” read her batch- whose new agonised lifestory was drafted jus moments ago by us :). Some (Ahem) pleasantries were exchanged and VRN filled out the reqd form and paid 100 bucks for the duplicate SIM with a “I Lost my mobile yaar: 12k loss. Again ur askin me 100 rs.?” dialogue. “I’m sorry sir but it’s mandatory” she said in a consoling tone. “doesn’t the SIM cost 99 bucks?” he enquired. Her face flushed, the reason i think is either a)’Oh my God he knows’ exprn or rather b)’oh my god he had de audacity to ask me that’exprn, my bet is on the latter. “Yes sir I’ll check from the cashier if he has change” and she walked away to get our dude’s one buck which never saw light of the day.

13:30- After Fab refused nandu’s 75 buck offer and I donated 100 bucks for not wearing a helmet we finally land up in DESMONDS for lunch. There Divya Prasad’s story was given wings and allowed to scale gr8 heights which someone actually believed in (he he).

16:00- After first class full of “You obviously know” statements to me there were lots of questions, cross questions and trick questions in Mr. Supercomputer’s second class. The absence of air-conditioner along with Mr.Smiley flashin his shabby teeth every 5mins or so was getting on my nerves.

19:00- As I crossed the street towards home I watched a man in peace.Sleepin like a baby. Buses – cars, bikes blaring past him. But he was in a sound sleep. Just wen i was abt to wish that i'd like to be in his place: a woman walked to him stood beside and then SLAPPPPPP! SLAAAAP!! SSSLLLLLAAAPPPPP!!! She started hittin him left right center, she yelled at top of her voice to his ears cursing him on his drinking habits, Slapped him some more and left. I din dare to pull out my camera to take her pic, but u can see him before and after, not much of a change eh.

I think here “He” represents all of us, the “ yellin-slapping Woman” represents the responsibilities our career- life after coll we thought that’d make us consider life seriously and more so change us. As u all can see it’s not much diff eh?? Life’s still is pretty much de same. Today ironically it's One year anniversary of my so said responsible life, LYF is still de same. Like in our man, the yellin women brought abt some minor changes here and there. But at the end we are who we are. Carry on guys. Carry on.

(W)here i am...

Day passes by as it transforms itself from morning to noon and rests into dark - so effortless. Seasons change from rainy to summer to rainy to winter and back to real raainy - so seemless. But alas! my surroundings have no relevance to any of these changes of nature. The people here are relentlessly punishing their bodies as if they stepped out of their homes this mornin with a vow to test the endurance of their physical and mental strength and retun back with a new HIGH SCORE. They park themselves at their cubicles and remain motionless and expressionless for most part of their day. There seems to be some kinda restriction on human communication at this place. Here conversations and laughter are hidden as cellphones by students in VTU college's. People confine themselves in a small room huddle up to listen to a speaker phone. They stare at it as if some "Item Number" is being played on the screen.

I find myself at this place every single day where mornings and nights have a striking resemblence cos nor do i see de daylight nor the darkness all i see is TUBELIGHT - Rain or Shine curtains are drawn. Temperatures are just figures in news for me cos i'm in a 16 - 20 dergree celsius controlled environment. Identities of my friends are reduced to just names with red-orange-green-gray colour beside it. Yesssss u guessed it right. I'm a software labourer.

Other than work or absence of it there are only 2 things that can force thy to rise from thy holy chair, i.e, either ur bowel is full or ur stomach empty. Such is the life we live. All u rickshaw drivers when will u understand IT??? I don't care wen u learn to browse net or wen will u read this post of mine but i want u to know some facts - we are not some rich guys dude, u are way better than we are. We suck miserably.
don blv me?? here are some FACTS:
-we have job, but u have work
-we live in small houses paying huge rent. I'm sure u live in a bigger space than me if not same payin much less.
-we only look rich, u easily earn equal to or more than us.
-we pay taxes, u don't.
-wen petrol price rise ur hire charges/ demands rise simultaneously, our pay doesn't.
-we can't answer back or swear at our customers/ clients, U CAN and U DO.
-If u don't wanna work u can refuse to, WE CAN'T.
-We wasted 4yrs of our life studyin shit we now don't know abt, u didn't.
-Economies don affect u, it does both Indian (inflation) and american (recession).
-Our parents don have a clue wha v do for a living, ur parents do.
-Our parent's expect us to go abroad for them to boast abt it, they dunno abt the fact that we need to present our client with our sole arse for their liesure, U don't have any expectations or fear as such.

We are just brainless slaves in good clothes and a tag around our neck. So next time u see a young guy walk up to u requesting u to go somewhere avoid behaving like his TL or PM wen he ask's for a leave just befrore a release. Please be nice to him by not quoting exhorbitant rates and please return change. Even if its 2 rs. I'm serious, we expect that. It's a request dude.

All you ppl who managed to read it full (or u who skipped the story to see how i end it) and are wondering what inspired me to reflect on my PAINED lifestyle and write abt it.
Here It is:- When i returned home from work today i climbed to the second floor stood in front of my door. Reached into my pocket pulled out my ID an flashed it to the wall beside. I waited for the beep for whole 10 secs after which i realized that this door opens with a key. I turn around to check if my neighbours have watched me makin a complete a fool of myself - aah not this time.. I quietly replace my id card in my pocket and pull out the key.
- TRUE STORY.
